The LaboratoryRead about PI

Our lab studies epigenomic regulation of PPARγ and adipogenesis (generation of fat tissue) using a combination of tools, including epigenomics (ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, HiChIP), bioinformatics, high-resolution imaging, proteomics, CRISPR gene editing and mouse genetics. We also use adipogenesis as a model system to understand epigenomic regulation of cell fate transition, with a focus on transcriptional enhancers.
Our lab has one staff scientist, 4 postdoctoral fellows and 3 postbac fellows. Lab members collaborate extensively with each other while each develops his/her own projects. We have weekly progress meetings to present recent data. Additionally, we have weekly lab meetings and journal clubs to develop presentation skills and engage with the current research in the field. Researchers also regularly attend and present at local, national and international meetings.

Roles and Responsibilities

A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Kai Ge’s lab at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), NIH, located in Washington DC metropolitan area. We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow to study epigenomic regulation of transcriptional enhancers. We use a combination of tools, including epigenomics (ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, HiChIP), bioinformatics, high-resolution imaging, proteomics, CRISPR gene editing and mouse genetics, to study how enhancer epigenomic writers, readers and erasers regulate cell identity gene induction in adipogenesis, myogenesis, ES cell differentiation, and mouse development.
